The European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – EU 2016/679) came into effect on 25 May 2018. We would like to inform you that we have updated the terms that govern the process for submitting application to the Master’s programmes of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus, so as to meet the requirements of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR – EU 2016/679).

 

1. Collection and processing of personal data

While submitting an application to any Master’s programme of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus, applicants’ personal data are collected, stored and processed. The data in question are those required in order to apply.

 

2. Purpose of personal data processing

Collection and processing of personal data takes place solely for the following reasons:

2.1. Submission and evaluation of applications

Candidates apply to the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus’ Master’s programmes and are evaluated by the Candidate Selection Committee, to which the data on said application are forwarded to.

2.2. Forwarding of successful candidates’ personal data

For those candidates that have successfully passed the selection process, the data on their applications will be forwarded to the corresponding academic and financial services of the University of Piraeus, as provided for in the regulatory documents of the Master’s programmes. The purpose of this data transmission is the academic and financial management of new graduate students at Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus.

2.3 Necessary processing to ensure legitimate interest

The data submitted by prospective graduate students to the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus information system will be stored and processed as necessary to establish, exercise or support legal claims.

 

3. Time limit on the storage of personal data

Successful graduate students’ personal data are stored indefinitely.

Candidates’ applications that were rejected by any Master’s programme of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus are deleted or destroyed after two (2) years, unless a criminal, disciplinary, or any other administrative procedure is pending.

 

4. Users’ rights

The Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus ensures the rights of prospective graduate students regarding the processing of their personal data and facilitates the exercise of their rights. Candidates have a right to request:

  1. Access to their personal data and information regarding which of their data are processed, for what purpose processing takes place, who receives their data and the duration of processing.
  2. Correction of their personal data in case of inaccuracies or omissions.
  3. Deletion of their personal data in case legal requirements are fulfilled.
  4. Limitations on the processing of their personal data for specific reasons
  5. Portability of their data, i.e. to receive the data they have submitted in a structured, commonly used format, or to request sending the data directly to a third party.
  6. To recall their consent to the processing of their personal data at any time, including the automated process that creates their In this case, data processing will stop.
