Required Documents

  • To apply for the programme, the following documents are required:

    1. Completed application form (provided by the Department or available electronically)
    2. Photocopy of the degree or certificate of completion of studies*
    3. Official transcript of records, indicating the final degree grade
    4. Copy of the Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis (if completed)
    5. Publications in peer-reviewed journals (if any)
    6. Proof of very good knowledge of the English language (issued by the awarding authority or certified by a lawyer)
    7. Detailed Curriculum Vitae
    8. Two (2) letters of recommendation from faculty members and one (1) from an employer, if applicable (on Department forms)
    9. One passport-size photograph
    10. Photocopy of both sides of the National Identity Card
    11. Solemn Declaration (submitted via the service https://www.gov.gr/ipiresies/polites-kai-kathemerinoteta/psephiaka-eggrapha-gov-gr/ekdose-upeuthunes-deloses or with certified signature by a Citizens’ Service Centre (KEP) or a Police Station in Greece), in which the applicant declares that all documents submitted and included in their file are true and accurate.
    * Applicants holding a first-cycle degree from a foreign higher education institution must submit their degree for verification as to whether the foreign institution is included in the National Register of Recognized Foreign Institutions, as well as in the National Register of Types of Degrees of Recognized Foreign Institutions. It is noted that if the place of study or part of the studies is certified as having taken place in Greece, the degree is not recognized, unless the part of the studies conducted in Greece took place at a public Higher Education Institution (HEI).

The application and letters of recommendation are submitted on special forms, available in physical form from the programme’s secretariat, or in electronic form from the programme’s website. The application can also be submitted electronically. The secretariat checks the required documents submitted by the candidate and prepares, for each candidate, a numbered and registered file, which it then forwards to the Candidate Selection Committee.
